Don Cornelius is smiling upon the 50th Anniversary of Soul Train

It was an glorious occasion. Many celebrities gathered together for the Red Carpet of the 50th Anniversary of the Soul Train Awards and it was nothing short of “love, peace and soul”.

Reminiscent of how the Soul Train dancers gathered together to perform their dance moves on the show, everyone hit the Red Carpet smooth and classy in poise and attire to honor a show that transformed Black American culture.

Soul Train televised for the first time in 1971. Hailing from humble beginnings, Cornelius scouted dancers at local high schools in Los Angeles, California.

At the time of its’ inception Cornelius believed that he had created a show that celebrated the culture, music and dance of Black people. The Black American answer to Dick Clark’s American Band Stand, Soul train revolutionized…
