Magnolia Shorty was one of the first women signed to Cash Money Records, also known as the “Queen of Bounce” music. She always knew that she wanted to be a rapper. She would write rhymes, and perform anywhere she was given a platform.

Everyone raved about her lyrics and performance, she was definitely on her way to the top.

Unfortunately, Magnolia Shorty was not able to realize her dream. She and her acquaintance were ambushed by gunmen at her apartment complex in New Orleans. She was only 28 years old.

No one ever really knew exactly why she was murdered, even though there were many speculations. Hip Hop Homicides tries to get to the truth of this and many other tragedies.

From the executive producers Curtis “50” Jackson and Mona Scott-Young, Hip Hop Homicides tries to solve, or obtain better leads on the many deaths in the Hip Hop community to help give family, friends and fans closure.

Airing every Thursday on We TV, and streaming on All BLK TV, Hip Hop Homicides does effective investigative reporting, hosted by Van Lathan.

The next episode of Hip Hop Homicides will investigate the murder of rapper, Chinx from Queens, New York on November 24, 2022.
