Mary J. Blige commemorates her trailblazing 1994 LP “My Life,” album with a documentary produced by Vanessa Roth on the 25th anniversary of the great work.

25 years ago Mary J. Blige took the R&B/Hip Hop world by storm with her voice. A voice of pain; A voice of struggle; A voice of power. With this voice she changed the trajectory of so many lives. The documentary displays that some of her fans would not be living today if it wasn’t for Mary J. Blige being very transparent about her depression, addiction, trials and tribulations.

The My Life Documentary displays the strength of Mary as she struggled to overcome depression and insecurities that led her to believe that she was not worthy to be in the position that God had placed her. Even though she was successful to the world she did not believe in herself.

This unbelief led her to internalize many of the problems that she endured. But something beautiful came from the pain…the music.

The documentary has commentary by P. Diddy, Taraji P. Henson, Nas, Method Man, LaTonya Blige and Chucky Thompson.

The documentary was also in memory of the late Andre Harrell who discovered Mary J. Blige.
